We advise corporations and individuals in tax planning relating to their participations in companies, income tax, capital gain tax and value added tax (“VAT”). We also advise our clients on the fiscal implications of their commercial, real estate, corporate, and financial transactions.
In addition, we represent our clients in disputes before the tax authorities and administrative courts relating to the levy of taxes.
Sample of our experience:
Advised the majority shareholders of a major food processing company, who own the factory in which the company produces its products, on the best structure to employ in order to transfer the factory’s ownership to the company;
Represented a financial institution which owned shares in a bank, the value of which was reevaluated and were then sold, in its dispute with the tax authorities for the levy of undue income taxes calculated on the value of these shares;
Represented a conglomerate facing financial difficulties in its negotiation with tax authorities for the payment of their tax dues by installments, and subsequently, in the litigation brought against it by the tax authorities for failure to commit to the installment plan agreed upon;
Advised an international European bank on estate planning matters in view of Lebanese regulations, as well as the dual tax treaty concluded between Lebanon and a number of European countries;
Advised high net individuals, some of whom hold multiple nationalities, on tax and estate planning;
Advised investors and corporations on tax implications of different corporate structures.
