Dr. Maya Mansour

Of Counsel

Dr. Maya Mansour is experienced in commercial, civil and criminal law, and she regularly advises clients in a variety of regulatory matters. She has acted as legal counsel to The EuroMena Funds (private equity funds investing in the Middle East and Africa) from 2012 till 2020, as well as held the position of Partner to the General Partner (in the UK) and of the Fund Management Company (in Malta). In addition, she has acted as the funds’ Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) from 2015 till 2019.

Dr. Mansour is a lecturer on human rights at the Beirut Arab University since 2008 and acts as a consultant to several international organizations. She has authored a large number of comparative studies on international law, human rights, and the judiciary systems in Lebanon and the MENA Region. Additionally, she has litigated several cases.

Dr. Mansour is a certified Board Director by the International Finance Corporation and Excellence in Governance Lebanon and is a board member to several organizations.

Dr. Mansour was honored in 2009 by the US Embassy during a reception in honor of Women’s History Month for contributing to Lebanon’s growth by advocating human rights and peace. She completed a Chevening Fellowship at the University of Nottingham and has attended several international courses on international law and human rights.

Sample of experience:

  • Acting as a legal advisor to a private equity fund, assisting in the fund raising process with International Development Financial Institutions, drafting the documentations and agreements, setting the funds’ structure, incorporating the companies across different jurisdictions in Europe and the MENA region, assisting in the investment and divestment of the portfolio companies, in addition to handling the environmental, social and corporate governance, compliance, regulatory and anti-money laundering monitoring and reporting of the funds

  • Acting as a legal consultant for several international organizations such as the UN, the Council of Europe, the American Bar Association and the World Bank on variety of topics, including rule of law and human rights matters

  • Acting as a pro bono lawyer for different human rights cases, including women’s rights, children’s rights, torture, domestic workers and refugees
