We have substantial experience advising our clients in complex disputes. Through our diligent, persistent and meticulous work, we achieved a solid track record of success in litigation and arbitration relating to each of our areas of practice. Additionally, our attorneys have experience as counsel and arbitrators in institutional and ad hoc arbitrations. Furthermore, they advise clients under the rules of a variety of international arbitration centers.
Sample of our experience:
Advised Saudi investors in relation to their dispute with the Republic of Egypt resulting from the expropriation of lands included in their touristic resort in Egypt and the withdrawal of building permits. Also advised them in relation to the presentation of their claims against the Republic of Egypt before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID);
Advised and represented the developers of the mixed-use tower that was planned to be the highest building in Lebanon throughout their disputes with the consultants and contractors resulting from the cancelation of their project shortly following commencement of the works;
Represented a regional holding company in its disputes with three (3) regional banks relating to its syndicated loan that was intended to be settled through the transfer of the revenues from the sale of shares it owned in a local bank;
Represented the company tasked with the reconstruction of downtown Beirut after the civil war in various real estate litigations relating to expropriations and re-expropriations of properties;
Represented numerous hotels and beach resorts in their claims against the Lebanese government resulting from the excessive increase of dues relating to their privilege to use the maritime public domain. The claims resulted in the annulment of the governmental decree that increased said dues;
Represented a variety of companies in litigations brought against the Lebanese State as a result of breach of government contracts (e.g. telecommunication, sewage, urban planning);
Extensively represented real estate developers in disputes, whether litigation or arbitration, with contractors, consultants and other stakeholders;
Advised an engineering company in regards to its disputes in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the main contractor on the Riyadh metro project;
Advised a regional insurance company in its dispute with an industrial group in Syria resulting from a political risk insurance;
Represented the owners of 50% of the shares in one of Lebanon’s largest food producing groups (a family business for three generations) in the arbitration they entered into with the owners of the remaining 50% of the shares in the group;
Represented companies in arbitrations and litigations relating to breach of intellectual property, particularly trademarks and trade names;
Advised clients on the enforcement, as well as the annulment of arbitral awards in Lebanon;
Extensively represented banks in commercial and banking law matters; as well as in debt recovery.
